When I was preparing to head to Indonesia last fall, I was doing a little light reading in my Special Forces Survival Book. (yeah, yeah, don’t judge me. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I wanted to be prepared) As I was reading, I learned that cumulus clouds typically gather over land. So, if you are lost in the ocean – you can look for clouds to guide you to safety.
As I am writing this, I am thinking of friends who are struggling and hurting with things of this world. Dealing with sickness, death, hurting and sadness can make us feel lost at sea. We are tossed around and gasping for air – looking for hope and a guide to lead us to safety.
There is a verse in the Bible that inspired me to change my perspective on how I view this life. “Set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
When “lost at sea” we should focus on heavenly things
Hope – Faith – Love
Things of this earth pull us down, so we must “Set our minds on the Things Above.”
This is the story behind my newest series of paintings and I wanted to share with you where my mind was while painting this collection of artwork. These paintings were created to remind myself where to focus my mind. These paintings were created to point others in the direction of Hope.
Stay hopeful when you feel lost at sea and look for the clouds that lead you to safety.
